Anxiety: A short story

Updated: Jun 15, 2018

(Chattery inner voice) It’s 10 AM already and the time is flying by. I am trying to distract and calm myself, but the feeling just wont go away. The confusion. The doubt. The pressure. It's too much to bear at this point. What should I do?

(Conscience): It's time to recenter myself. My energy is too concentrated in my heart and head. My chest is pounding and heart is racing. My thoughts are everywhere. I know that if I breathe rhythmically then I can calm my heart since the heart and lungs are physically connected. *Inhale 4 counts, hold 4 counts, exhale 8 counts -repeat 10 times* (Chattery inner voice) I feel a little better, but I still feel anxious, what else can I do? (Conscience) Now I must spread the energy I have stuck between my head and heart throughout my body. More specifically, I need to move more energy to my gut, which holds the soul or the truth, to gain balance and clarity. *Imagine a circle of light in your favorite color, in your head. Make it as bright as you can. Now move the light from your head, to your heart and then to your gut and have the ball make a straight line of energy as it moves throughout your body. Once it's at your gut, move it back up to your head along the straight line of energy you have made. Continue until you feel a sense of calm and balance. * (No longer chatty inner voice) Ahhh. I feel a lot better now. I'm ready to peacefully move about my day and I am sure that I can handle anything that will happen later on today. All the Best! Brandon The Builder Berry
